MINA PERHONEN
Designer creates graphic textile design
While fashion designers and apparel companies usually buy ready-made textiles from manufacturers, Minä Perhonen’s designer, Akira Minagawa, always creates collections starting from textile design, often drawing inspiration from nature, with a chic color palette that nods to Scandinavia and adds graphic patterns. The simple silhouette emphasizes the textile patterns. The mood is poetic and tender, not unlike a fairytale.
In April 2016, the flagship store moved to Daikanyama, where it is divided into two different sections: a modern section, decorated with copper plates, and an organic section decorated with natural materials like wood and leather. This store, built using traditional Japanese techniques and craftsmanship, sells Minä Perhonen items and other accessories that suit the brand’s sensibility.
